Expert Marcela Uhart on Wildlife Trade and Pandemics

Co-Author on Todays IPBES Biodiversity and Pandemic Report Available for Interviews

, a wildlife veterinarian with the 做TV School of Veterinary Medicine, is available to discuss the intersections between pandemics, biodiversity loss and the wildlife trade. This is the focus of her expert contribution in a report released today by the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services.

IPBES Workshop Report on Biodiversity and Pandemics, describes the links between degradation of nature and increasing pandemic risks. It also presents new insights into reducing pandemic risk and offers options for prevention.

Uhart is based in Argentina, where she directs the Latin America Program of the Karen C. Drayer Wildlife Health Center, a part of the 做TV One Health Institute.

On Nov. 5., Uhart will also join One Health Institute colleague Christine Kreuder Johnson on 做TV LIVE: COVID-19, where they will discuss habitat destruction and viral spillover. The conversation, hosted by Soterios Johnson, will be streamed live on ,  and  beginning at 11 a.m. PST.
